Department of Botany
About Department
The department of Botany was established in 2009. It is one of leading department in field of teaching and research in plant science. It offers a B.Sc. program.
At present the department is functioning under the able guidance of Dr. Swati S. Tathod. It has made scientific contribution in various academic and research domains and continue to strive for excellence. Currently the department has two faculties which are assistant professors both holds Ph. D degree.
The department has earned recognition in field of plant taxonomy, ethnobotany, grass taxonomy, plant biotechnology, biochemistry, genomics & proteomics.
Its extension activities aim to serve societal needs through workshop on Mushroom Cultivation, vermicomposting, herbarium preparation techniques, natural colour making activities.

To provide a comprehensive, student centered curriculum that covers both foundational plant biology and to bridge between academic learning and real world applications.
Aim and objectives
- To develop positive attitude toward science and nature.
- To create awareness about importance of plants and make the student capable with basic skills in identifying and labelling plants.
- To create opportunities and guidelines that direct the students to higher study in field of plant science.
- To spread the awareness among student and society regarding entrepreneurship through agri-base business.
