Department of Chemistry

About Department

The department undergraduate program in chemistry first opened its doors to students in 2009. The department has three full time qualified faculties, involved in teaching, research and extension activities. The Department of Chemistry stands for excellence in chemical education and research. It has a strong record of achievement in chemical science with the support of a dynamic faculty team. The areas covered under the department’s teaching include fundamental chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry. The department of chemistry conducted various student centric activity, seminar, workshops, and community engagement programs. Department also run the certificate course on “Soil and Water analysis” approved by Parent University

Aims and Objectives of the Department:

  • To make the students creative, logic oriented and to inculcate the basic skills.
  • To inculcate scientific attitude among the students in rural area.
  • To make Chemistry interesting and applicable.
  • To inspire an interest in chemistry while applying its principles for the betterment and upliftment of communities.

Vision of the department:

To cultivate students’ creative potential through a dynamic educational environment, fostering         applied research and an entrepreneurial mindset to serve industry and society.

Mission of the department:

To create this department as a center of excellence with dynamic teaching – learning   environment that strives for research, creativity and product development with project based learning

Scope of the Subject:

Chemistry serves as a foundational pillar for understanding the physical universe. Often described as the central science, it explores the composition, properties, and transformations of matter, along with its relationship to energy. This core knowledge provides critical insights into adjacent fields such as materials science, biology, and medicine. By unraveling the mechanisms of the natural world, chemical innovation continually yields transformative technologies that enhance global quality of life. Because it intersects with so many fields, a comprehensive chemistry curriculum equips graduates with versatile skills. This academic foundation opens doors to rewarding and impactful careers across diverse sectors, including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, biotechnology, nanotechnology, metallurgy, and food science. As global challenges evolve, the relevance of chemistry continues to expand, offering a reliable and dynamic path for future professionals.
